The Log From The Sea of Cortez - A Maritime Memoir with Lasting Legacy

Image
The Log From The Sea of Cortez - A Maritime Memoir with Lasting Legacy Two salty men combine their efforts to change the course of research and life as we know it.  July 8, 2026 A year ago, my husband and I celebrated the news that he was accepted to go to one of the top Wooden Boat Building schools in the world. This was a dream and education he had chased for many years, and a passion since boyhood. Housing was challenging to find, but the way we have overcome this challenge is a story for another time as we decided to just do anything possible to make it happen.   Eric has read many tales of sea adventures, and we have watched hours of our favorite Sailing Documentarians. Eric suggests books to me as he becomes connected to the stories and wants to share them with me. There was one book in particular that kept coming up. A story of new discovery and intellect. A story of trial, error, and accountability. An imperfect crew with an important mission. This book is...

So You Want To Be A Content Creator

So You Want To Be A Content Creator What I'm learning about creating content for social media July 6, 2026   I have been throwing my thumbs at creating an online presence for my travel vlog. This has come with many challenges, though perseverance that is truly impressive.  When I first began recording clips, I was fixing up a travel trailer with my partner, and then when things started going wrong while we traveled, I froze, not wanting to be perceived as a moron. But as said best by Steven Bartlett of Diary of a CEO, "embarrassment is the price of entry". Leaning into this, I have been open to sharing more and more online, though until beginning my independent study with Gonzaga followed by my Capstone, I had not found ways to make this a consistent brand image across the board, which really taught me how much you need to know in order to be successful in this industry, especially without a team to back you. Responsibilities for a travel vlogger include:  Owning an LLC a...

How NOT to Visit Grand Staircase-Escalante National Monument Planning to staying at Hole In The Rock Road? A travelers guide to avoid Travel Gaffes while passing through this incredible Canyon Territory. July 6, 2026 So you are planning to go to the desert and you heard of this free dispersed camping area in Escalante, UT - something about a Hole In The Rock? Something about Devil's Garden? Hell's Backbone... Don't bust the crust - what does this all mean?  Well, you are in luck. This is an incredible area to camp at, but it does come with it's quirks...v(there is great cell service tho!)   This campground is primitive and does not offer water or electricity. When arriving to this camping area, be mindful of packing in and packing out. This includes being prepared to haul in your food and water, and haul out your human waste. This is part of being prepared for this type of camping. If you are seeking a restroom option on your way out of Escalante and into camp, stop at ...

Incredible Thai Food in Port Townsend - Banana Leaf Thai Bistro

Image
Banana Leaf Thai Bistro in Port Townsend, WA has quickly become a favorite restaurant of mine. I have enjoyed every dish that I have tried, and look forward to trying something new with each visit. Banana Leaf Thai Bistro is a must eat in Port Townsend! They are also available on Doordash which has been a treat as a local to Port Townsend! Especially when I am craving a Thai Coffee.  Thai Coffee delivered by Doordash Thai coffee enjoyed in Banana Leaf  The first dish I had tried at Banana Leaf was the FR-3 Pineapple Fried Rice . While I have enjoyed many fried rice dishes, I have not had a fried rice that invites Pineapple to mingle with cashews and onion so wonderfully.  My husband and I shared the Pineapple Fried Rice and BS-5 Braised Beef Panang which had savory rich asian flavors with an excellently balanced spice pallet. It was tender and juicy, and paired well with brown rice.  ...

Izzy's Traveler's Creed

Izzy's Traveler's Creed Andrew Zimmerman commented about his father’s approach to travel...  The traveler’s creed doesn't require crossing borders or even leaving your area code. It is a reminder that we often overlook the immense opportunities for exploration that exist right outside our own front door.   June 3, 2026   I travel to experience the   why s of the world. Why  deserts are shaped like rivers.  Why  birds go south for the winter. Why  mountaintop trees and ocean kelp are some of the greatest homes on earth.  I travel to see the world for what it truly is and not just what society has smudged it to be.    I aspire to soak in information like a sponge, with a purpose of wringing out my water to rehydrate all that is dry or dead. This liquid knowledge painting red flashfloods in Utah , deep indigo huckleberries in Montana, and giving plaster fossils a genuine life.    I will face doubt and fear, and I will fu...
